An Elderly Lady

An elderly Christian lady, who was crippled with arthritis, used to
hobble to the services of the churchElderly-woman-smile on crutches. It was a great ordeal and required of her a considerable amount of toil and pain. A friend of hers observed her regular and faithful attendance and asked, “How do you manage to be at every service?” Her answer was, “My heart gets there first, and my old legs just follow after.”

Shout by Jeff Carnie

A church ran into difficulty when the elders decided that one man was shouting too much in church. They thought he might disturb the very distinguished guests the church was suddenly now having. So the elders called the pastor aside and notified him that this shouter must be refrained. The pastor told them “I won’t tell him to stop shouting, but I will go with you if you wish to tell him”. So, soon off they went to vist this farmer.

As they drove down the dusty road to his house, they found him plowing his huge field with his mule near the fence line. One elder spoke for all of the others, stating how they had voted to ask him to hold the shouting down when in the worship service and the potential problem it would cause.

The old farmer quickly stated, “See that beautiful wife standing over there? God gave her to me. See that beautiful farm house? God gave us that house. “See those beautiful children playing in the yard? God gave us those children. See all of this beautiful land? God gave me this land. Now, hold my mule while I shout!”

BE BLESSED!

He Will Carry You

There is no problem too big God cannot solve it.
There is no mountain too tall He cannot move it.
And there is no storm too dark God cannot calm it.
There is no sorrow too deep He cannot soothe it.JesusCarryingyou

And if He carried the weight of the world upon His shoulders,
I know my brother that He will carry you.
And if He carried the weight of the world upon His shoulders,
I know my sister that He will carry you.

Some years ago in an attempt to get healthier, I joined a local gym. I would routinely get up at 4:00 a.m. each morning to do my work out before commuting one hour each way to the bay area for work. This particular morning was no different from the previous mornings, when I arrived at the gym, I felt especially good so I decided to do what is called a “drop set.” A drop set is when you progressively lessen the weight you are lifting.  I placed six 45 pound plates on the bar which is a total of 270 pounds. I cleared the bench, locked my arms and was able to complete five reps with ease. I was feeling really confident and pumped up so I decide against my better judgment to add weight instead of lowering the weight. I added two 25 plates to the bar, do the math I have just increased the weight to 320 pounds. I sat on the edge of the bench staring into the mirror attempting to psych myself out; I laid down on the bench, lifted the weight and quickly realized that this was different! Although I cleared the weight off the rack, and was able to bring it down to my chest, I was not able to push the weight all the way up to
re-rack it. In other words, I wasn’t able to complete the rep. There I was, all by myself with no spotter to assist me and not enough strength to clear the bar. I only had one option available to me, and that was to lay the weight across my chest and roll it down my body; so that’s what I did and man DID IT HURT!

I learned some valuable lessons that day, never lift heavy weights alone, always have a spotter; don’t attempt to lift more than you physically able. This is a life’s lesson, how often do we try to handle our problems by ourselves,
lifting/carrying the load of sin and despair alone. However we don’t have to go it alone, God is always there to do the power lifting for us. And when you fall or stumble He will be there to catch and even carry you!

LET’S CELEBRATE!!

There is an energy that accompanies each New Year that creates the thrill of new beginnings. The gyms are full, new faces are spotted in the pews at church, Copy of imagesand commitments which are likely to be broken are made. Here is my challenge to each of you this New Year, “whatever you do, strive to do it to the fullest, be sold out for Jesus and fully committed! Be bold and strong in the Lord! Don’t look back, walk in faith and to your victory!

This is my soul’s desire as I lead the 9:30 service at FBCEG, I intend to put the pedal to the metal. I often say, “so much to do, and so little time to do it!” I plan to live this next year as if it’s my last.  With that being said, I vow to submit myself to be the vessel that God uses to unlock the doors to heaven with worship and praise!  Will you join me?

Will you allow God’s spirit to manifest itself in your life?  Will you share His message of truth, hope, love, and forgiveness?  Believe me when I say, it will be challenging to keep this “resolution” to give our absolute best, but I know in God we can do all things!  So let’s grow the kingdom, let’s grow the church, and let’s be vessels used to change lives! Together, let’s “celebrate” what God will do this coming New Year! I truly believe this is a commitment/resolution we can keep.

SEEING THE HEART by Jeff Carnie

hearts

When everyone starts filing into work today what if you could just see the inward appearance? You would not see who is the nicest dressed or nicest looking. All you would see would be the same spirit of everyone BUT in that spirit you would see their heart. Their heart would either be filled with love and light or be filled with hatred and darkness. They would be filled with light and joy or you could see that their hearts are heavy. When you can only see the heart of a person you would see them in a much different light. You would not judge based on outward appearance any longer. Fortunately for us God only looks at our heart.

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
