THE RICH MAN AND THE POOR CARPENTER

One day a good, rich man noticed the miserable conditions in which a certain poor carpenter lived. He decided to help the poor man and commissioned him to build a beautiful house. He told the carpenter, “I want this house to be ideal. Use only the best materials, employ only the best workers, and spare no expense.” The rich man informed the carpenter that he was going on a journey, and he hoped the carpenter would complete the house before his return.

Naturally, the carpenter saw this as an opportunity where he could profit as he skimped on materials and hired inferior workers and covered their mistakes with paint. The carpenter wound up making a profit.

Later, the rich man returned from his journey and the carpenter brought him a key to this house that he had been hired to build. The carpenter even claimed that he followed the rich man’s instructions on building materials, quality and the best of workers. The rich man handed him the key back and told him that the house that he had built was for himself and his family.

Have a great week!

RUNNING FROM SIN by Jeff Carnie

RUNNING FROM SIN

I read a story this week of a young girl who accepted Christ as her Savior and wanted to be baptized. An old deacon in the Church wanted to find out where this girl was really at in regards to her relationship with the Lord asked a few questions. “Were you a sinner before you received the Lord Jesus into your life?”

“Yes, sir,” she replied.

“Well, are you still a sinner?”

“To tell you the truth, I feel I’m a greater sinner than ever.”

“Then what real change have you experienced?”

“I don’t quite know how to explain it,” she said, “except I used to be a sinner running AFTER sin, but now that I am saved, I’m a sinner running FROM sin!”

Be blessed everyone, and keep running!

A MOTHER’S MARRED HANDS!

•May 11, 2012 • Leave a Comment

There was a teenager who didn’t want to be seen in public with her mother, because her mother’s arms were terribly disfigured. One day when her mother took her shopping and reached out her hand, a clerk looked horrified. Later, crying, the girl told her how embarrassed she was.
Understandably hurt, the mother waited an hour before going to her daughter’s room to tell her, for the first time, what happened.

“When you were a baby, I woke up to a burning house. Your room was an inferno. Flames were everywhere. I could have gotten out the front door, but I decided I’d rather die with you than leave you to die alone. I ran through the fire and wrapped my arms around you. Then I went back through the flames, my arms on fire. When I got outside on the lawn, the pain was agonizing but when I looked at you, all I could do was rejoice, that the flames hadn’t touched you.”

Stunned, the girl looked at her mother through new eyes. Weeping in shame and gratitude, she kissed her mother’s marred hands and arms.

I thank all our mothers for their sacrifice.  God bless you all!

WATCH A SPIDER?

•May 7, 2012 • 3 Comments

Image
Have you ever watched a spider?
The spider will spend many hours, days, in great
effort spinning a web.
As the spider spins the web, the key factor will
become patience.
Many hours after the web is completed, the spider
waits and waits.
The spider must be very still and quiet.
The spider has a plan, but the plan can never
develop without patience.

As the spider waits, one day the spider will feel
the web moving, the food has come suddenly.

But there was nothing sudden about it.
It was patience released.

Child Like Faith by Jeff Carnie

A friend tells of overhearing two little girls, playmates, who were counting their pennies together.

One said,” I have five cents.” The other said “I have ten cents.” “No,” said the first little girl, “you have just five cents, the same as me,” but the second girl quickly replied, “My father said that when he came home to-night he would give me five cents, and so I have ten cents.”

The child’s faith gave her proof of that which she did not as yet see, and she counted it as being already hers because it had been promised by her father.   So are we to trust the promises of our heavenly Father, and we to, can count among our possessions the things which He has promised to give us.

Persistence is an important factor in prayer by Jeff Carnie.

Persistence is an important factor in prayer. But persistence is a valuable commodity for every area of your Christian life, not just prayer. God blesses those who persist. So whatever you may be facing right now, don’t  give up! If you’re ever tempted to give up, just remember the composer Brahms. It took him seven long years to write his famous Lullaby–I guess because he kept falling asleep at the piano!

Have a great week and be blessed!

IT DEPENDS WHOSE HANDS IT’S IN

•April 16, 2012 • Leave a Comment

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19
A basketball in Michael Jordan’s hands is
worth about $33 million
It depends whose hands it’s in

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6
A baseball in Mark McGuire’s hands is worth $19 million
It depends whose hands it’s in

A tennis racket is useless in my hands
A tennis racket in Pete Sampras’ hands
is a Wimbledon Championship
It depends whose hands it’s in

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal
A rod in Moses’ hands will part the mighty sea
It depends whose hands it’s in

A sling shot in my hands is a kid’s toy
A sling shot in David’s hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it’s in

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands
is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God’s
hands will feed thousands It depends whose hands it’s in

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse
Nails in Jesus Christ’s hands will produce
salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it’s in

As you see now it depends whose hands it’s in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears,
your hopes, your dreams, your families and
your relationships in God’s hands because

It depends whose hands it’s in.
